Yoann Moreau, computer engineer (ingénieur en informatique)
About me
I was born in Provence (France) in 1985 and grew up in Aix en provence. I have been interested in science and especially computer science since I was 15. I wanted at first to design video games, I mean gameplay not graphism. Then I discovered optimization and machine learning, and loved it. I am now really interested in artificial intelligence, open source community and the web in general.
I am also very interested in astronomy. Discovering how the universe works is amazing, so I spend some of my time reading news reports and watching documentaries. I am more generally interested in all other science fields. I like to read articles from futura-sciences (fr).
Studies
I have a master degree in computer science with a specialization in programming, operations research and business intelligence at the university of Avignon.
I have started my studies with a French 2 years computing degree (called BTS). It has given me a great overview of the different technical fields in computer science. I learned programming with assembly language and C, then learned the object-oriented programming with C++. I also learned basis of networks and operating-systems features.
I then went on to earn my bachelor and master degrees in the university of Avignon. I learned about software development, web development, databases, operating systems, optimization, operations research, datamining, graph theory, language theory, machine learning, business intelligence and indexing.
During my studies I mainly used C++ to program algorithms and Qt framework for graphic user interfaces ; PHP and PostGreSQL for web development. C++ is definitely my favourite language but I am now also interested in Ruby.
